Our initial plan was to go to Thomas Rock. Thomas Rock is a beautiful look out spot near Big Bay, about 23 miles from Marquette. You can take County Road 550 from Marquette towards Big Bay. Keep a lookout on the right side of the road for a brown sign that will point you towards Thomas Rock. You will take a left onto County Road 510, and the entrance for Thomas Rock is about a mile down 510 on the right. It is definitely a must see if you are coming into the area, and we thought that this would be the perfect site to take in all the beauty of Fall on this summer like day! 73 degrees on a late October day in the UP is almost unheard of. Which explains why every parking spot at both Sugarloaf and Thomas Rock were completely filled. Locals and tourists alike knowing that we will likely not get another day like this for at least 8 months. The fall colors are at their prime this time of year, and we couldn’t not take advantage of this beautiful day to get out and experience them.
